John Amos

Biography

John Amos worked for HM Customs and Excise in London Port from 1964 till 1982. His job was to collect duties and to enforce prohibitions and restrictions on cargo.

He was Branch Secretary for the Customs Officers' trade union (now Public and Commercial Services Union: PCS) for much of the period during which the enclosed docks were closing.
